Join us for an inspiring conversation with Jermaine Hurling, a University of Texas at Austin graduate and dedicated member of the recovery community.

Jermaine earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from UT Austin in 2010 and an M.D. in 2020. Since 2021, they have worked at The University of Texas in quality improvement, regulatory initiatives, clinical workflows, and clinical informatics, while also earning an MBA and MSIS in 2025.

Recovery has been a central part of Jermaine’s life since entering Alcoholics Anonymous in 2021. Since then, they have sponsored dozens of individuals, participated in Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (YPAA) committees, and founded Austin’s first BIPOC Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, where they currently serve as Chair and Treasurer.

Deeply grateful for the AA community and the transformation recovery has brought to their life, Jermaine is passionate about helping others discover the hope, connection, and possibilities that recovery can offer.
